Old Town
Not long after the establishment of Unity City, the original town built by the Ruvilian people was preserved and renovated as a commercial and leisure area. The dilapidated timber-framed clay houses were reinforced, the potholed and rugged alleys were transformed into clean pedestrian streets, and the bastions that had blocked traffic and the stinking moat were rebuilt and dredged, becoming a beautiful riverside park for citizens to stroll in their leisure time.

For a long time after Salai was burned, the mouth of the Motlava River remained an obscure place. Due to its low-lying terrain, high water table and severe soil salinization, it was unsuitable for cultivation. However, as gunpowder became increasingly important in the wars in the Ruvilian region, these saline lands regained importance because of their saltpeter production. The industry of scraping saltpeter-containing soil from the surface of the saline land and processing it with wood ash to produce potassium nitrate revived Salai and by at least the 1840s, Salai had a population of several thousand. In 1955, Grand Marshal Stanisław Çaytovsky of the Kingdom of Ruvila oversaw the construction of Salai's fortifications. From then until the arrival of the Earthlings, the old town remained largely unchanged.

For the Earthlings, the old town was a charming, historic tourist area. For the Ruvilian people, however, the old town was often their place of residence in Unity City.
