Personal History
Yuna is the finest scout in the Jaeger Regiment, Leonie’s "eyes." Before joining the First Jaeger Regiment, she was widely regarded as gentle and shy; she was always quietly reading and would easily blush when speaking to strangers. Although she possessed the necessary military skills, she hardly looked the part of a warrior and seemed completely out of place amidst the group's collection of "chronic complainers."
Yuna quickly realized that beneath Leonie’s caustic exterior lay a deep, meticulous concern and protectiveness toward her subordinates. She grew so comfortable with the team's atmosphere that, upon hearing the commander’s sharp remarks, she would often flash a mischievous grin and chime in with a quote from an Earth classic. Yet, when no other comrades, and especially not the commander, were around, Yuna seemed to revert to her old self.
Yuna had long loved reading; she always carried books with her, even while on field missions. She held a particular interest in Earth culture—the gap between Earth’s sophisticated literary classics and the crude adventure novels of Nox was akin to the difference between a rocket and a matchlock musket. During the Space Race, the JDR had enforced strict cultural controls to maintain Earth’s glorious image in the eyes of the Noxian natives, meaning mostly technical manuals made their way into the Republic. In recent years, however, the situation had completely reversed: the volume of freely circulating Earth books had surged, though the variety had become far more eclectic.
Through her reading, Yuna learned that for Earth girls, there was a stage of "maidenhood" that existed between childhood and womanhood, a time spent in school, wearing cute sailor-style uniforms, with plenty of time to indulge in daydreams and trivial worries. Longing for this "beautiful youth," she used illustrations as a guide to tailor some Earth-style outfits for herself, though the sailor uniform remained her favorite.
Hailing from the "Two-Foot Knight" background, Yuna had endured a harsh childhood; consequently, while Earth girls her age were busy daydreaming, she had already become a warrior, supporting herself through combat. But now, with a commander who has a sharp tongue but a soft heart, and comrades who constantly spout snide remarks yet remain deeply united, the Jaeger Regimen could well be considered her "carefree" school.
