Personal History

Natsuki was born into a relatively wealthy family where she was cherished by both parents; her father had studied and worked within the United Territories, enjoying a modest reputation in both his hometown of Zarab and the Territories themselves. Growing up in these comfortable circumstances, she could always get the toys she wanted and pursue her own hobbies. Unlike most girls, she preferred toy guns to dolls and rough-and-tumble play to studying; thanks to her father’s lenient parenting style, she was able to grow up happily, free to indulge her boisterous nature.

Life as a recruit was often dreary—not merely due to the grueling physical training, but also because military discipline left no room for her usual antics. Yet, whenever she took part in marksmanship drills and felt the cold steel of a firearm in her hands, Natsuki felt a renewed sense of determination to keep going.

In her father’s eyes, Natsuki was lively and energetic but a poor student; she had many hobbies, all of which were costly. As he watched his daughter grow, securing a stable job for her became a constant source of worry. Every position in the United Territories required passing an exam—hurdles that Natsuki, who detested studying, had no hope of clearing given their high failure rates. Consequently, her father could only arrange for her to work as an outsourced laborer, taking on temporary assignments across various agencies in the Territories.

Then, one day while dining with old friends, Natsuki’s father heard about the preparations for the "Eastern Project" and learned that Valena was recruiting soldiers for a security company; the pay was modest, but the prospects were promising. He thought of his restless, energetic daughter—a girl who loved nothing more than handling weapons and engaging in rough play. Although the role was far more dangerous than a desk job, it offered a chance to secure a permanent, official position. And so, Natsuki—bored to tears by office work—found herself half-cajoled, half-tricked by her father into heading to the recruitment office.
