Personal History
Mier serves as the Chief Attendant for the 1st Guard Regiment a role akin to a "Sergeant Major" in other units, officially responsible for supervising and training the large corps of squires who attend to the knights. Having served for over a decade, her true age is a subject best left unpondered. Mier possesses a voluptuous, shapely figure and radiates a strong maternal aura; while she styles herself the "Big Sister" to the female knights, she effectively plays the role of a mother figure.
In reality, Mier’s importance far exceeds her official title. The thirty years since the Republic's founding have brought earth-shattering social and political changes, completely altering the educational environment for young noblewomen entering the knighthood. With many knights now hailing from humble backgrounds, the common knowledge once shared by the previous generation of knights has largely been lost, making Mier an indispensable, living repository of that wisdom.
Mier’s ability to serve for so long stems from her Circassian heritage, though she is not immune to the memory loss common among her people. She retains a perfect memory of the First Guard’s traditions, but the price she pays is the loss of many personal memories.
Mier patiently and gently instructs recruits on how to conduct themselves with a blend of elegance and authority; how to handle overly enthusiastic commoners and dignitaries without allowing complications to interfere with their duties; how to alleviate the fatigue of training and missions to safeguard their health and physical development; and how to manage squires with a mix of benevolence and sternness to prevent insubordination or deceit.
Mier seems to possess boundless patience and tenderness toward the female knights, understanding that these high-born young ladies often lack genuine familial affection or friendship. Some speculate that she projects the unfulfilled aspects of her own life onto these young women, hoping they might find the happiness that eluded her.
Morian is Mier’s prize pupil, the most studious and intelligent recruit from the moment she joined. Morrigan declares that she seeks not only her own happiness but also the restoration of the First Guard’s honor, aiming to liberate everyone from being mere pawns and to seize control of their own destinies. Such ambition brings Mier great comfort; perhaps, if that day truly comes, she will finally be able to lay down this heavy burden with a peaceful heart.
